On 23rd September 2022 the government announced permanent changes to Stamp Duty Land Tax for home buyers.
Stamp Duty cut with immediate effect
Changes to Stamp Duty thresholds mean that all individuals purchasing residential property on or after 23rd September 2022 will pay less or no SDLT.
No Stamp Duty will be payable on the first £250,000 of a property, while first-time buyers will pay nothing on the first £425,000 and can claim relief on purchases up to £625,000.
